Gamify Your Students’ CVC Skills with this CVC Bingo Game

This CVC Bingo game has been created by a teacher to provide teachers with a hands-on game that students can play. But this CVC Bingo isn’t just about winning – it’s about learning too! As children play, they reinforce their understanding of CVC words, phonics, and spelling in a fun and interactive way. Plus, with customisable bingo cards, you can tailor the game to focus on specific word families or phonetic patterns, making it an invaluable tool for literacy instruction!

Mastering the ability to decode consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) words is a critical milestone in a child’s journey to becoming a proficient reader.

How to Play CVC Bingo!

Each students will be given their own unique board. Choose a picture card and either show it to your students or read out the word to them. This ability to change up the way this is played enables a differentiated approach for your students. Perhaps they need the word written on the board for them and as a class you decode the word and then find it on their mat. Alternatively, students may be ready to listen for the word, work out the phonemes in their head and then find the matching graphemes that make each phoneme on their Bingo board.

Students use a counter to cover over the CVC word if they have it on their game card. Students can make horizontal or vertical lines on their game card to win.
