Exploring Australia’s Rainforests

Although Australia is a very dry country, both major types of rainforest (tropical rainforests and temperate rainforests) can be found across the continent. Australia is one of the few places in the world where rainforests are available for public enjoyment, conservation projects and research.

The major rainforests of Australia can be found mostly in Queensland, New South Wales and Tasmania. However, rainforest areas can also be found in Victoria, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

Rainforests are the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet. Over half of the world’s plant and animal species live in rainforests.
